According to information provided by the Software & IT Services Chamber of Commerce from Argentina (CESSI), the exports of the sector reached 1,699 million dollars, an average 3.5% employment increase and a 28.3% growth in total sales in pesos.
The conclusions are part of the results of the recent 2017 survey of the Permanent Observatory of the Software and IT Services Industry (OPSSI), of CESSI. According to the current account of services published by the INDEC on the Balance of Payments, 2017 marked a historical record in software exports, overcoming the maximum of the year 2012 (US$ 1,533 million).
"2017 has been a great year of recovery for the software industry, with a historical record on exports and a huge number of new jobs reaching 107,100 software professionals among those registered and not registered, and sales for US$ 2,237 million in the domestic market, out of the US$ 3,837 of the whole market", said Aníbal Carmona, CESSI President.
The survey also measured the expectations for 2018 and revealed that the businessmen, if there is sufficient IT talent, would increase their staff of professionals up to 13.6% which would imply the creation of more than 13,100 new registered jobs. At the same time, the businessmen of the software industry expect to be able to grow in 2018 almost 26% and to increase exports by 15%.
"The total market of the software industry reached $ 64,494 million pesos, 28.3% above last year, with a historical record on exports composed by the 56.2% coming from North America (USA, Canada and Mexico), 32.2% of Latin America and Central America and 11.6% of the rest of the countries", held Gustavo Guaragna, member of the Executive Board of the CESSI in charge of the OPSSI.
